Annual Parish Celebration

The Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Parish in Somerton, AZ is preparing its Guadalupe Fiesta for the weekend of December 6 and 7, 2014. On Saturday the 6th, the Parish Feast will begin at 4:00 p.m. and end at approximately 11:00 p.m. as the Sunday the 7th, it will be from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.


They are asking for your generosity. Any donation you can give towards their dessert booth. Alicia Zavala is in charge of dessert booth for both days.

Soldier in a Postcard

This old postcard was found in an antique frame dated around 1900 to 1913 and was bought in an estate sale. The postcard is an actual picture of a soldier in uniform.

The back is postmarked March 14, 1916 Ottawa, Canada with a 2 cent King George stamp.

Basic Disaster Supplies Kit

I came across  information for a basic disaster supplies kit, so I'm passing it along. Please print and start this kit. We don't know when disaster strikes.


A basic emergency supply kit could include the following recommended items:

• Water, one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days, for drinking and sanitation
• Food, at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food
• Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert and extra batteries for both
• Flashlight and extra batteries
• First aid kit
• Whistle to signal for help
• Dust mask to help filter contaminated air and plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place
• Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation
• Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
• Manual can opener for food
• Local maps
• Cell phone with chargers, inverter or solar charger
