Virgen De Guadalupe

On December 9, 1531, the Virgin appeared to Juan Diego on a hill called Tepeyac. She asked him to tell the bishop to build a church in her honor. Juan Diego went to the bishop Juan De Zumarraga and told him, but he didn't believe him and told Juan Diego to ask the Virgin for proof to prove her claim.

On December 12, 1531, the Virgin appeared to Juan Diego and asked him if he had done what she told him. He told her what the bishop requested, so she told him to go and gather flowers. It was winter and no flowers bloomed, so Juan Diego got some castilian roses. Juan Diego took them to the Virgin in his "tilma". She touched them and then told him to take them to the bishop. Juan Diego presented the tilma to the bishop and the image of the Virgin appeared imprinted on the cloth of his tilma. The bishop called it a miracle and built the church.

The original tilma is at the Basilica De Guadalupe in Mexico City. One day I will go and see this miracle. December 12, will always be a special day. On this day we celebrate la Virgen De Guadalupe.
