Hard Rock

Can you see me? I'm taking a picture of the Hard Rock cafe entrance in Phoenix.

Downtown Phoenix

My trip to Phoenix was good. I went to the workshop, but it also gave me time to relax. I walked to the class every morning, and just took pictures of whatever grabbed my attention. I am into art sculpture and architectual buildings. I am posting some pictures of buildings that I thought are great.

Civic Space Park

I loved this art piece. It's on Polk and Central, next to the ASU University Center.

Lariat Cowboy

Another art piece I loved was the Lariat Cowboy. This statue is on Jefferson and 3rd ave.

The inscription says

Lariat Cowboy by Constance Whitney Warren 1888-1948.

"Gift to the city of Phoenix from George Henry Warren through Ferargil Galleries and Walter R. Bimson. Unveied April 21, 1954."

Full Life Reach

I love art. This statue is located on Central and Washington St. at the One Renaissance Square. It gave me a nice feeling everytime I passed by it. The poem says
"we
of humankind
hearts quickened to compassion
hope with inward vision kindled
to risk
the searching of our souls
to dare
the unexpected
to master
barb and thorn
and hear the whisper of eternity"

Cigarrette Trash

On my first day of the workshop in Phoenix I decided to walk to class. I saw many things, but one thing that really got my attention was trash. On the corner of Jefferson and First street I looked down, while waiting for the light to change. I couldn't beleive my eyes. Cigarrette butts were piled up close to a drainage. Gross! Downtown Phoenix is very nice, maybe, it could be nicer with no trash.

Workshop in Phoenix

On August 17, 2009, I went to Phoenix to a International Association of Assessing Officers Workshop. I learned about Personal Property Auditing. The instructor was Jewette Farley.
Mr. Farley made the class very interesting and funny. I wanted to take a picture with him, but for some reason or another I didn't.

The class took place a the Maricopa County Administration Building. This class gave me the opportunity to learn a lot. It also gave me my credit hours to continue my certification with the state to appraise property.

My hotel accommodations were at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites on 620 North 6th Street. This hotel had complementary breakfast, as well, as a gym, pool and jacuzzi tub. I relaxed. I took a picture of the hotel and the bed I slept for 3 nights. Very comfortable.

To my surprise, President Obama was going to be at the civic center close by where I stayed. I didn't see the President but I did take some pictures of the security and road blocks. I have pictures to show.

Bad Times

Even though I'm passing through bad times,
I always think of the good times.
The times I was young,
The times I was me.

Now, I'm a different person.
One who only dreams,
but never succeeds.
One who has dreams for the future,
but not sure if they will come true.

People say "have faith",
but the tears get in the way.
Is there a special reason why
I'm here in this world?
I don't know.

I'm passing through bad times.
Times that make me sad.
Even though I have faith.
I hope "love" will help me find my way.
